School Council

The School Council at Roecliffe are group of pupils who are elected to represent the views of all pupils and to improve their school.

They meet regularly with the Headteacher every week, and have been involved in staff recruitment (including the Headteacher!), planning how money will be spent in school and developing policies such as the Marking and Feedback Policy.

Two children from every class represent their own class on the School Council. The children are elected to the School Council by their peers. They take whole school issues and ideas from their own class councils and feed them into the School Council. They also share ideas and decisions from School Council with their class. Decisions made within School Council can, and do, have a real impact on the rest of the school.

Every Term, the School Council write a report to the Governing Body to update them on their progress to date.

Projects for future will include:

The School Environment – planning and developing the school grounds, including an exciting project called ‘Chicken Run’

Staying Healthy - playing an active role in encouraging children in school to lead a healthy lifestyle including how pupils at Roecliffe travel to school, and promoting healthy snacks in school.

Staying Safe – The school Council will be launching a poster competition about any aspect of keeping safe, linking with the themes we have explored already in school such as e-safety, safety around animals, general personal safety and road safety.
