Pupil Leadership

We want our pupils to play an active and positive role in all aspects of school life. Every year the children elect a School Council representative from each class. They hold regular meetings with their class to ensure we understand what our pupils want from their school. They are particularly interested in the curriculum and developments around learning.

We believe that all children should be given the opportunity to lead an initiative or hold a position of responsibility that impacts the school as a whole, so we offer a leadership roles for all of our Year 6 pupils, this is part of their personal development and preparation for secondary school.

The following areas provide opportunities for leadership or responsibility:

  • House Captains
  • School Council
  • Eco Warriors
  • Sports Leaders
  • Collective Worship Leaders
  • iLearn Leaders (Computing)
  • Reading Champions
  • Mathletes
  • Language Leaders

Each team has a link teacher who works closely with the pupils to develop new projects, arrange events and help the children to contribute to the voice and vision of the school.

Our pupil leaders contribute to our daily collective worship, curriculum planning and event organising. In addition, our School Council members and Collective Worship Committee and Learning Leaders report to the school’s governing body annually.
