Pre-Reception

Children reaching their 4th birthday by the April preceding their Reception year may join our part time pre-reception class during the summer term. This has recently been furnished with toys and equipment specifically to promote the desired learning outcomes for the under-fives. We welcome parents/guardians and children who wish to view the School. Please telephone to arrange a time.

Pastoral Care and Welfare

The pastoral needs of the children are met by the class teacher and teaching assistants who in a small village school are able to give time, individual help and encouragement to each child's personal, social and academic development.

The School Council meets when we need the children's help in planning changes. This enables the children to have a greater say regarding what they would like for their school.

The children are regularly involved in raising funds for charity and contribute to different organisations each year.

School Meals and Snacks

At lunchtime the children are supervised and may either bring a packed lunch or purchase a school meal. School Meals are cooked on the premises and cost £2.00 per day/£10.00 per week. Dinner money should be brought to school on Monday mornings in an envelope clearly marked with your child's name. For those parents wishing to pay on a half term or termly basis, details will be given at the beginning of each term.

A mid morning drink of milk is available for 10p a day and should be ordered and paid for half a term in advance. We encourage children to bring a drink or water in a bottle. Recent research highlights the importance of children drinking plenty of water.

The school in conjunction with the Governments School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme provides children in Key stage 1 with a free piece of fruit or vegetable each day. Key Stage 2 children are also welcome to bring a healthy snack.  Your child does not need to bring any other snack. The aim is for the children to learn about the benefits of healthy eating. It is essential that you inform of the school of any allergies your child may have so we can ensure they are not given anything that may harm them.

Illness and Sickness

In the case of illness or accident we will endeavor to contact you as soon as possible. To facilitate this, please advise us of any changes to your telephone numbers.

Home School Partnership Agreement

This is now a legal requirement. Staff, Parents/Guardians and Governors have drawn up an agreement, which will be presented to the children as part of their PSHCE programme. Parents are requrested to sign this agreement.

School Rules

School rules are kept to a minimum, their purpose being to ensure the safety of the children, care and consideration for others and the efficient and smooth running of the school.

We have 5 Golden Rules which we ask the children to follow. These are:-

  • Be kind and helpful - Do not hurt other peoples feelings.
  • Work hard - Don't waste time.
  • Always be honest - Don't cover up the truth.
  • Be gentle - Do not hurt others.
  • Look after property - Don't waste or damage things.

The school rules are displayed prominently in the hall and are discussed regularly with the children in assemblies and circle time.

Car Parking and Road Safety

Please maintain a clockwise circuit of the school. Please do not block drives of Local Residents. The safety of the children, yourselves and residents is our main concern. It would be greatly appreciated if you can drive carefully and slowly around the village.
