Out Of School
At Roecliffe School we encourage extra curricular activities as a means to enhance the national curriculum and provide additional social contact between children. Below is a selection of the after school activities that the children can involve themselves in.
Cricket Club
Every Thursday during the summer term Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 excels under the careful eyes of Mrs Allison Allen and Mrs Carol Rodgers, with their cricket skills. The school has also recently visited the Headingly Cricket Club Headquarters of Yorkshire County Cricket Club where we were warmly welcomed.
Cross Country
In April, the area Cross-Country Championships were held at Boroughbridge Primary School and 7 local schools, including Roecliffe attended. We had fair weather and a great team spirit.
Cycling
Cycling Proficiency takes place the last half term of the year for Year 6 only. Mr Dave Lever, one of our Governers, assesses our Year 6 children around the village for their Cycling Proficiency Award.
Dance
Every Wednesday after school from October our Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 join for dance every winter. They dance to many types of music. Such as country, punk, rock ‘n’ roll and much more. This class starts at 15:30 and ends at 16:30 and is run by Mrs Jane Waring. The children perform many interesting dances at school plays
Eco Warriors Environment
Every Tuesday after school Years 3 & 4 children take part in the Eco Warriors club, which is run by Mrs Kerry Daltonlearning about how to look afteer the environment and recycling
Football
Our boys and girls football club meet on a Wednesday after school on the village Green from Easter to the end of the summer term. Our coaches are Mr Fred Hall and Mrs Tracey Horner.
Aerobics and Early Morning Workout
Every Tuesday after school and 8.00 a.m every Thursday before school Mrs Suzanne Morrison"works out" with children and parents, providing a fun session and encouraging children and parents to keep fit.
Home Economics
We are grateful for the valuable contribution that our FORCES members make to this curriculum area. Over the past year they have been involved within the school at Harvest time making Lemon Curd, at Christmas assisting us with some fabulous tasty Yuletide snacks and on Pancake Day making pancakes with Years 1 and 2.
Music
The children take part in singing practice with Miss Eve Morris on a Thursday morning. Music also features in our, Harvest Festival, Christmas and end of term productions.
Netball
Miss Louise Atkinson is our Netball coach and the girls train on a Wednesday after school from February half term to the summer.
Rounders and Hockey
From February half term Mrs Allison Allen amd Mrs Roders provide the children with after school rounders and hockey club on the village green. The club is open to children in Key Stage 2.
School Magazine
Every Thursday after school Years 5 & 6 children take part in the School Magazine Club, which is run by Miss Amanda Van-Wyk. this is an excciting way of developing literacy and thoroughly enjoyed by the children
