About Us
Our School
Roecliffe Church of England Primary School is a school for children of four to eleven years of age. The School is maintained by North Yorkshire County, and is a modernised late Victorian Grade II Listed Building adjacent to the village green, which serves as the school's playing field.
Outside there is a tarmac playground with permanent markings for a netball pitch and outdoor mathematical activities. At the front of the school there is an adventure play area with logs, climbing ropes, climbing frames, balance bars and seating. We have constructed a Key Stage 1/Early Years creative play area. This includes a garden, adventure play equipment and educational games. During dry weather periods, the children are able to use the village green for playtimes, sporting activities including hockey, cricket, rounders, badminton, and after school clubs
There are four classrooms. The main hall is used for collective worship and is also used as an additional teaching area and dining room. A new library has been created, which provides an excellent provision for the children's learning. Children from Reception age upward are encouraged to use this library independently.

Our Aims
The aims of the school, whilst maintaining a caring ethos in keeping with our Church of England foundation are to provide happy, secure and stimulating surroundings where children develop self-confidence, care, consideration and sensitivity for others and for their environment and where each child is given encouragement to develop to his/her full potential. We help pupils to acquire knowledge, skills and practical abilities and the enthusiasm to use them.
We encourage our children to develop lively and enquiring minds, the ability to question and argue rationally and to develop physical skills. Our intention is to help children to appreciate human achievements in art, music, science, technology and literature, to understand the world they live in and to understand the interdependence of individuals, groups and nations. We aim to help the children to develop spiritual, religious and moral aspect of their lives. Our school is an integral part of our local community and we aim to foster a strong partnership.
